The 2025 Call for Research Grant Awards

Fostering scientific research in genetics is an important part of ISONG’s mission.  ISONG members are eligible to apply for a Nursing Research Grant Award.  

An informational webinar for potential applicants will be hosted on Thursday, May 8 at 3:00 PM EST. The webinar will recorded and posted on ISONG website.

Letter of Intent Requirements

Submit a letter of intent no later than Monday, May 26, 2025 (11:59 PM EDT).  This letter is not to decide who may apply, but rather to help the co-chairs begin asking the appropriate reviewers to be part of the grant process.  To be eligible to apply for this award, you must be a current member of ISONG and have received no more than $50,000 from foundation or government funding.

The letter should be sent as a PDF (titled "LOI_Last Name") and include:

a.      The title of proposed research

b.      A brief description (one paragraph maximum) of the proposed research

c.      The institution where the research will take place

ABOUT THE ISONG NURSING RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM

Fostering scientific research in genetics is an important part of ISONG’s mission.
ISONG members are eligible to apply a Nursing Research grant award.  Submitted proposals are selected for funding based upon successful peer review of the application by the ISONG Research Committee. ISONG's Research Committee is responsible for selection and submitting the names of the award recipients to the Board of Directors.

Purpose
The purpose of the annual ISONG Nursing Research Grant awards is to support research related to the mission of ISONG, specifically, to promote genetic/genomic nursing practice and for the development of genetic/genomic nursing science. Grant funding may be used as "seed" money for conducting a pilot study, or, for support of an ongoing research investigation that will contribute to the science or practice of genetic/genomic nursing. Awarding of grant funding is competitive and will be determined through peer review of proposals by members of the ISONG Research Committee. The scientific merit of grant applications is the primary criterion for funding decisions.

Eligibility: 

  • To apply for a grant, an applicant must be a member of ISONG in good standing.
  • Applicants who receive over $50,000 from large foundation or government funding will not be considered for ISONG funding opportunities.

Typically 2-5 grant awards are given out each cycle and are provided by the generous donations of our sponsors and from the ISONG Nursing Research Helix Campaign donations.
