    The GenoNurse Model as a Framework for Nursing Education: International Perspectives 

    Thursday, November 2, 2023, 12:00 - 3:00 pm

    GenoNurse is an Erasmus+ CP project funded by the European Union involving Finland, Slovenia, Italy, and Ireland with an evolving community of interested stakeholders internationally.


    Purpose: The overall aim of the GenoNurse workshop is to present and discuss the GenoNurse model, GenoNurse Roadmap, GenoNurse community all of which have been co-developed through an Erasmus+ CP project to underpin improvements in the education of nursing students. The workshop will seek the perspectives of participants on the GenoNurse model and its application in an international context.


    Target audience: Nursing students, practitioners, educators, researchers, and policymakers.

    Utilization of Pharmacogenomics in Clinical Practice

    Pharmacogenomics has a strong potential to improve patient outcomes. Nurses play a critical role in pharmacogenomics’ research and therapeutics and clinical care for patients. In this Pre-Congress Workshop, the faculty will share their extensive knowledge and experience with pharmacogenomics to inform current and future knowledge for nurses in genomics. The workshop is comprehensive for novel and advanced genomic nurses, and will cover the basics of pharmacogenomics, implications of pharmacogenomics testing, current use of pharmacogenomics therapeutics, and its utilization in clinical practice.

    On behalf of the 2023 ISONG World Congress Planning Committee, we invite you to join us at the 2023 ISONG World Congress. The Graduate Hotel will be the perfect setting to connect with genetics and nursing colleagues from around the world. 

    Nurses are called to transform healthcare, and genetic/genomic nurses will be at the forefront of that transformation. We look forward to exciting presentations by our keynote and plenary speakers and expert lecture, abstract, and poster presenters.

    The 2023 ISONG World Congress will provide the attendee the opportunity to:

      1. Discuss advances in genomic nursing research, education, practice, and policy settings.
      2. Incorporate the concepts of genomics in nursing scholarship to promote health equity.
      3. Identify the unique opportunities of nursing to integrate genomics advances into practice.

      Additionally, the Education Committee and the Congress Committee are excited to offer Pre-Congress Sessions again this year. These sessions will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023.  This is a separate registration.

      The ISONG World Congress registration fee includes a continental breakfast each day, lunch on Friday and Saturday, the Poster Reception, and all breaks.

      The International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing are collaborating again to provide nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) contact hours. In 2022 a maximum of 15.25 contact hours of NCPD (Pre-Congress three (3) contact hours, Congress 12.25 contact hours with one (1) hour of pharmacotherapeutic content were available. We are anticipating the same contact hours for 2023.  The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission Accreditation.
