The International Society of Nurses in Genetics, Inc. (“ISONG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of our members, donors, event participants, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. You may request to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, opt out of non-essential communications (every email includes an unsubscribe link), or update your member profile and visibility settings at any time. To exercise any of these, contact info@isong.org.
For individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, applicable data-protection law gives you the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of or objection to processing, and data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Where we rely on consent, withdrawing it does not affect processing already carried out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. ISONG will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of: performance of your membership (contract); your consent (e.g., optional communications, directory listing); our legitimate interests in operating a professional society and serving our members; and compliance with legal obligations (e.g., tax and financial recordkeeping).

If you access our services from outside the United States, including from the EEA or UK, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. By using our services or joining ISONG, you consent to this transfer.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: membership and contact information for the duration of your membership and up to two (2) years afterward (to support renewal and Society continuity); financial and transaction records for seven (7) years to meet tax and accounting requirements; and other information until it is no longer needed, after which it is deleted or anonymized. You may request earlier deletion (Section 4), subject to records we are legally required to retain.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) transmission and the security controls provided by our membership platform. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incident promptly.
10. Children’s privacy
Our services are directed to nursing and genomics professionals and students and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above reflects the latest version, and material changes will be communicated through the website or to members directly.
