Education Grant Program

ISONG members whose work focuses on educating nurses in genomics are invited to apply for this grant to complete an educational project/intervention.  

The 2021 Call for an Education Grant Award Is Open!

Letters of Intent are due on Friday, May 14, 2021.  

Submit a letter of intent via email to Ruth Lucas at ruth.lucas@uconn.edu and Mary Hanson-Zalot at Mary.Hanson-Zalot@jefferson.edu no later than Friday, May 14, 2021 (midnight EDT). This letter is not to decide who may apply but rather to help the co-chairs to begin to ask the appropriate reviewers to be part of the grant process. 

The letter should be sent as an attached MS Word document or PDF and include:

  • The title of proposed project
  • A brief description (one paragraph maximum) of the proposed project
  • The institution where the project will take place

ISONG members whose work focuses on educating nurses in genomics are invited to apply for a $750.00 grant to complete an educational project/intervention.  The project should promote genomic education to graduate, undergraduate, or practicing nurses. Projects must be completed within one year.

Projects may include but not limited to:

    • Course development and design
    • Development of educational assessment measures
    • Educational tool kit
    • Improvement of teaching models

      Applicant Requirements:

      • Applicant must be a current member of ISONG and involved in genomic education to nurses.
      • Applicant must disclose if funding from ISONG for this project has been previously provided. 
      • Applicant must complete a Letter of Intent due no later than May 14, 2021.
      Grant Submission Requirements:
      • Applicant must submit the grant via email to the Education Committee co-chairs, Ruth Lucas at ruth.lucas@uconn.edu and Mary Hanson-Zalot at Mary.Hanson-Zalot@jefferson.edu - ONE PDF File that includes the application and project design/description (800 words maximum) should be submitted no later than Friday, June 25, 2021 (midnight EDT). The email subject line must include the last name of the Submitter and ISONG Grant 2021. Example: Jones_ ISONG_EDUGrant_2021.

      Awarding of grant funding is competitive and will be determined through peer review of proposals by members of the ISONG Education Committee. Educational impact on professional development in genomics is the primary criterion for funding decisions.

      Date of Letter of Intent: Friday, May 14, 2021

      Grant Application Date: Friday, June 25, 2021

      Grant Announcement Date: Mid-August 2021
