A Review of Medical Genetics: Overview and Study Guide
By Janice Berliner 1995. Reviewed by Becky Althaus
This is a spiral bound, no nonsense book that is a comprehensive review of clinical genetics
concepts. The topics are covered in a very organized, concise manner. (If you are looking for
flowery explanations, don't look here!) Since the study guide is designed to prepare a person
for the genetic counseling boards, all topic contents are brief and straight-forward. If the
reader is not comfortable with a section, the references can be consulted for more in depth
study.
The genetics nurse can use this book as a handy reference that is all-in-one. If you are
trying to explain or teach a concept that you do not use frequently, this book would be helpful
to jog your memory. It is not comprehensive enough to learn the material first hand.
Just as the title suggests, this book is an excellent choice for review, overview and study
guide.
